The Hamilton Beach “Smooth Touch” Electric Can Opener does all the hard work for you, opening both regular and pop-top cans with just the push of a lever. But what I like the most is it creates a smooth edge when opening the can, so it’s safe to handle. That means no sharp edges and no shreds of can label getting into your food (ick!).

I’ve had my electric can opener for years and it’s earned a permanent spot on my kitchen counter; the look even matches with my stove and other appliances. It works not only on regular 14-oz size cans, but also those little bitty 6-oz cans of tomato paste and the big 28-oz cans of crushed tomatoes. The only thing it won’t open are those ginormous cans of hominy that I buy once a year around Christmas time to make pozole (yeah, I still bust out my handheld can opener for that one and workout my forearm muscles). But for 364 days out of the year, the Hamilton Beach is still the best can opener I’ve tried!
